Proverbs 5 by Kristi Lemp
I am so excited to have my sweet mother, Kristi Lemp, as a guest writer! She also has her own blog called Faith, Hope, and Tea (linked here) if you want to check it out.
Hello! I am delighted to be a guest writer for my amazing daughter, Brooke. She asked me to write on Proverbs chapter five. This entire chapter is all about the perils of adultery. That is not something nice to write about! Lol. But, I will give it my best shot. First, I want to say that if God put something in the Bible more than once , that means He is a very, very serious about it. There are numerous verses about adultery in the Bible. It is a clear warning. God‘s commands are not to be taken lightly. He knows what’s best!He created each and every one of us and knows that the most beautiful relationship is a monogamous marriage.
There is strong language in this particular chapter. Look at verse eight, for example, “Remove your way far from her (adultery), and do not go near the door of her house.” In between the stern warnings he does say this…
“Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth…And always be enraptured with her love.” Proverbs 5:18-19
I would like to unwrap this a little bit. What does enraptured mean? Dictionary.com defines it as, “ delight beyond measure.” Other words used to describe enrapture would be entrance, enchant, wonderful, fascinating and intoxicating. Staying faithful to your spouse and being enraptured with them is like Heaven on earth! God loves marriage, He designed it. Take it from me, I have been married to my wonderful husband for over 28 years. We apply biblical principles to our marriage and it is enrapturing and awesome! And God has that for you too if He has put that on your heart.
I am praying that if you are not married yet, you will have a wonderful marriage in your future. Have a blessed and wonderful day.
