Pray Bigger Prayers
Last week, we looked at how God takes what we have and turns it into more than enough (Matthew 14). We talked about how Jesus took five loaves and two fish and fed five thousand people and even had leftovers.
I wanted to revisit this point and talk about how God is a God of abundance. Too often, I think we forget that God is a big God and makes big moves! If we truly understand how big, eternal, loving, and all knowing God is, then we will live our day in more peace, faith, and trust in Him. I constantly try to remind myself that I serve a big God. Since we serve a big God, I believe we should pray big prayers.
In a book called The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson, he says this when talking about prayers: “If your prayers aren’t impossible to you, they are insulting to God. Why? Because they don’t require divine intervention.” I don’t think there’s anything wrong with praying big prayers. In fact, I think God wants us to. Jesus prayed a big prayer when he wanted seven items of food to feed five thousand people. I want to encourage you to reflect on one thing you’ve been praying for and consider how you can turn that into a bigger prayer? Or maybe there is something that you haven’t been praying about because it seems “too big”? But remember, there is nothing too big for God. I challenge you to pray a bigger prayer today than normal and see what God does!
