I hate reading instruction manuals. I don’t know if it’s laziness for not wanting to read or stubbornness for not wanting help (or maybe a little of both). However, when I got married and receive a lot of nice gifts off of our wedding registry, I made myself read the instruction manuals for my fun expensive gifts so I wouldn’t end up breaking anything valuable.
Upon doing this, I realized how helpful instruction manuals are! You might be thinking, “Well, duh! What do you think they were made for?”
It seems so silly to me now that I never took the time to read them, follow what they say, and apply it to my life. They make my life easier when handling an appliance, keep me safe, and give offer tips on things I didn’t even know the appliance or product had to offer!
Have you ever looked at the Bible as the instruction manual for how to live a successful and fulfilling life with God?
And if we consider the Bible as that, do you find yourself using it as it was designed- to make your life easier, to keep you safe, and to offer tips and advice for how to live in this crazy world?
Or do you find yourself like the old me trying to figure life out of your own and not wanting to ask for help or take the time to read it?
On another note, I would never read the instructional manual for my Nespresso and try to use that to help me with my Dyson hair dryer. But why do I often find myself taking instructions from Instagram, celebrities, or the world for how to live out God’s truth?
As you go throughout your week, I encourage you to ponder: Are you reading the right instruction manual? And are you actually applying it to your life?
Awesome! I look forward to reading more of this blog!
